POST NEWS NETWORK
Bhubaneswar, August 13: Celebrities in India have fan associations across the country. The film celebrities particularly are treated like gods in some parts of the country. For example, people pour milk in the posters of Rajinikant in Tamil Nadu on the day of his movie release. Another incident to cite is during the shooting of Amitabh Bacchan’s film Coolie, where the actor caught up with a serious injury and the fans, to much of everybody’s awe prayed day and night wishing him for a healthy life. So, it is no surprise that Khiladi Akshay Kumar’s films are garnering all the critical and box office appreciation. He is one other actor who has country wide fan associations. His last few films like Rustom, Airlift, Jolly LLB 2, and the latest one Toiletek prem Katha have received appreciation and has earned him the title of a ‘Real hero’ Some of his fans say, “Akkki makes socially relevant and patriotic films. The stories revolve around social issues and try to inculcate a patriotic fervour amongst the people.” Jolly LLB2 was one such movie where the story exposed the pathologies of our judiciary system, while in Airlift and Rustom he captured the meaning of being a true Indian patriot.
In Bhubaneswar city, his fans are inventing new ways of celebrating his success. Meet Odisha Akkians, a clan of 83 fans who watch his films on the first show of its release day. The fan club was started by few college students of the city on August 26, 2016. After forming the club the clan watched Jolly LLB 2 together. “On the occasion of Akki’s film release we garland his poster with flowers and cut cakes on his behalf” said, Siddhanta Swain, a college student and founder of this club. He further added “Akshay Kumar is a true star as he created his own path into competition filled movie industry. He had no support to rely upon like other stars; he was a chef in a private hotel before he began his career in movies. Today, he has made his mark and is one of the best versatile actors of the country. As we are college students, we save our pocket money to buy tickets for the film. At present we are 83 members. It makes us feel really happy and excited when we watch his movies because it combines fun, entertainment and social message says, Rakesh Das another college student Rakesh also said that they are planning to celebrate Akhshay’s birthday (September 9) by donating books and dresses by visiting an orphanage in the city. Akhshay latest Toilet ek prem katha has collected `13 crore on his first day. It is a socially relevant film that focuses on putting an end to open defecation.
