Match drawn
Baroda colts fought back brilliantly to take the first innings lead against their Orissa counterparts on the fourth and last day of the Cooch Behar Trophy match which ended in a stalemate at Vadodara, Tuesday. In reply to the visitor’s first innings score of 552 for eight declared, the hosts scored 553 for seven when the match was called off with not enough time to force a result.
The hero for Baroda was wicketkeeper-batsman MG Patel, who played a marathon unbeaten knock of 228 (615m, 436b, 28×4, 3×6). It was his effort that ensured a first innings lead for the hosts and with it a crucial three points. Orissa on the other hand had to be satisfied with a single point.
Patel was well-supported Shivalik Sharma (60, 67b, 7×4, 2×6) and Viken Kedaria (52, 117b, 8×4).
