Bhubaneswar: Orissa bagged six medals including four gold and two silver in the recently concluded National Open Taekwondo Championships at Pune.
In the girls’ category Valena Valentina won a yellow metal, while Akankhya Samantray bagged two silver medals. In the boys segment Manas Barik, Tapan Purty and Jagannath Tudu clinched gold medals.

Orissa registered a convincing 2-0 victory over Sikkim in a match of the National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy qualifying round at Begusarai, Bihar, Tuesday. Bhabagrahi Padhiary (37th) and Arjun Naik (86th) struck for Orissa in this lop-sided match.

Hockey Orissa announced a 20-member team Tuesday for the VIIIth Hockey India Senior Women’s National Hockey Championship (Division-A) at Ranchi, February 1-11. Sunita Lakra has been appointed as the captain of the team. Sikkim, Punjab, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh registered emphatic victories in their respective matches of the 23rd Senior Women’s National Football Championships at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Tuesday.
Sikkim spanked Uttarakhand 4-1, while Punjab pummeled Uttar Pradesh 7-0. Karnataka thrashed Rajasthan 3-0 and Chhattisgarh defeated Telengana 2-0.
