Orissa colts thrash Tripura

Bhubaneswar: Orissa rode on a scintillating ton by in-form wicket keeper-batsman Rajesh Dhuper (101, 86b, 9×4, 5×6) to register a massive 92 runs win over a lowly Tripura in a match of the Men’s U-23 East Zone ODI League at JSCA Oval Ground in Ranchi, Monday. This is the fourth successive victory for Orissa.

Opting to bat first Orissa scored a challenging 309 for the loss of seven wickets in 50 overs. Rajesh batted brilliantly along with his opening partner Sandeep Patnaik (76, 116b, 6×4, 1×6) to stitch together a partnership of 160 runs for the opening wicket. After their departure other batsmen got starts, but could not consolidate. Otherwise Orissa could have scored a much bigger total. Neelam Buj Vats (3/58) was the best bowler for Tripura.

In reply Tripura were never on the chase and were bowled out for 217 in the allotted overs. B Debnath (63, 79b, 6×4, 2×6) scored a patient half century to give some semblance of respectability to their total. Debabrata Pradhan (3/31) and Subham Nayak (3/19) bowled well for Orissa.
