Bhubaneswar, May 5: Orissa stormed into the semifinals of the national cricket tournament for the visually- impaired scripting a 74-run win over Rajasthan in their second Group-B game at the Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad, Thursday. Orissa will play the third league against Andhra Pradesh. They had beaten Uttar Pradesh in their first match.
Opting to bat, Orissa rode on spectacular knocks of the openers Pankaj Bhue (78 n o) and Nakula Badnayak (58 n o) to post a huge total of 159 for no loss in a 12-over rain-truncated game.
In reply, Rajasthan were restricted to 85/8. Batting hero Pankaj bagged two wickets while Kalia Pradhan, Pankaj Mangal and Nakula captured a wicket each.
Rising Students in final
Rising Students sailed into the final of the SCAN Cup cricket tournament registering a comprehensive 39-run victory over Rameswar Sporting in the semifinal here, Thursday.
Opting to bat, Rising Students scored a massive 181/5 in 20 overs. Man of the match Biplab Samantray (71) scored a splendid half century while Bikash Pati (47) supported him well. Alok Mangaraj (2/26) was the pick of the bowlers.
Rameswar faltered at the beginning of the chase and were reduced to 53/4. Priyabrata Pradhan (42 n o) and Priyatosh Parmanik (45 n o) played fighting knocks, but could only take the total to 142/4.
