Bhubaneswar, Jan 7:Orissa powerlifters impressed with splendid performances as they bagged three medals including two gold and a silver in the recently-concluded Subrat Classic Open International Powerlifting Championships at Jamshedpur, January 4-9.
Pradip Kumar Patra clinched a gold medal in the senior 66kg category. He lifted a total of 512.5 kg to take top honours. Chandra Mohan Bisoi also clinched the yellow metal in the Masters-III 74kg category by lifting 220 kg. However, Ashok Kumar Prasad had to be satisfied with a silver medal as he secured the second position after lifting 510kg in the senior 120kg category. OM Mohanty missed the chance of winning a medal by a whisker.
Orissa Powerlifting Association secretary Chitaranjan Swain congratulated the lifters for their performance. “Our lifters are performing well in various international and national level tournaments and making the state proud,” he stated.
