Bhubaneswar, Sept 4: Orissa suffered a humiliating innings defeat against Punjab in a match of the All India U-19 Dhruv Pandove Trophy cricket tournament at Patiala, Sunday. Punjab’s Abhishek Sharma (6/5 and 4/36) was the class act with a ten-wicket haul in the match including a first innings hat-trick as Punjab beat Orissa by an innings and 168 runs.
Resuming the play from 65/4, Orissa colts were bundled out for a meager 88 with Akash Nayak (23, 36b, 4×4) and Swastik Samal (21, 25b, 4×4) showing some resistance. Man of the match Abhishek wreaked havoc by bagging a six-wicket haul. He was well supported by Rishabh Bhagat (3/31).
The visitors faced a batting debacle in the second innings again and were bowled out for 147 after being enforced the follow-on. Skipper Saurabh Rawat (64 n o, 67b, 9×4, 1×6) was the lone bright spot with the bat. Abhishek again was the pick of the bowlers with a four-wicket haul. Earlier Punjab had declared their first innings on 403/6.
