Dhenkanal: OSAP jawan Himanshu Sekhar Patra has earned accolades from all quarters for thwarting an attempt of firing inside a bus under Bhuban police limits in Dhenkanal district.

The brave OSAP jawan will be conferred with ‘DGP’s Disc’, as a token of recognition for his extraordinary service. Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay had invited Patra to his office for a cup of tea, during which he sounded this Saturday evening.
According to police sources, Patra confronted some miscreants after they tried to open fire inside a bus with an intention to commit crime at Baji Rout overbridge in the district Friday night.
Three bike-borne youths on their way to Bhuban from Cuttack and entered into an altercation with the bus driver for overtaking. The youths stopped the bus near Nilakanthapur area and one of them attempted to open fire.
Notably, the brave jawan was travelling in the bus. He came forward and snatched away the firearm from the miscreant as well as overpowered him. A fatal mishap was thus averted.
