Jagatsinghpur: An unidentified gang late Friday night ransacked an ATM machine of the Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) at Chanharahat area under Tirtol police limits here and decamped with cash of over Rs 12 lakh.
The locals found the machine in a broken state Saturday morning and alerted the police. Police inspected the spot with the help of a forensic team. Bank officials also reached the spot and took stock. The exact amount robbed from the machine was yet to be known, but officials reckon that cash of over Rs 12 lakh was lost.
The gang cut the machine from the front. The police sealed all the check-posts and launched a manhunt. “Instructions have been issued to various banks in the locality to install CCTV cameras at ATM kiosks and take other security steps,” a senior police officer said.
