Bhanjanagar: Paddy stocks of two farmers kept at a farmyard were gutted at Kamundi in Bhanjanagar Thursday night. According to sources, 12 paddy heaps of Ajay Mallik, and three heaps of Lambodar Swain were kept at a farmyard where fire broke out in the night. Villagers spotted smoke billowing out from the yard and immediately informed Mallik and Swain. Fire brigade brought the situation under control. The actual reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained.
Pregnant woman suffers burns
Balasore: A pregnant woman was left battling for life with critical burn injuries after her saree caught fire while she was cooking at her house in Nilagiri of Balasore district late Thursday night. Kosalya (26), wife of Suresh Miridia, sustained 75 per cent burn injuries and was rushed to the district headquarters hospital where her condition is stated to be critical.
