Panchayati Raj dept asks Collectors to rectify housing data

Housing prices

Bhubaneswar: The Panchayati Raj and Rural Drinking Water Department, Friday, has written to all the Collectors to weed out any anomalies in the rural housing scheme.

This comes after the allegations of inclusion of fake beneficiaries for housing assistance. The department has asked all the Collectors to personally intervene and look into the matter and also correct any inclusion of beneficiaries who are not entitled to get government assistance.

The department had also suggested few indicative ways to find out fake beneficiaries and ways to remove their names from the lists.

The letter to the Collectors said, “As communicated earlier, we must weed out all ineligible families and include the eligible families. We must prepare an error-free wait-list which shall then be used for providing houses under all the schemes in future.”

It also added, “You are directed to correct the survey list in AAWAS+ or RH portal. Ten percent of the new list would be randomly chosen for checking by the teams composed of officials from other blocks. Project director of DRDAs will make detailed planning for this exercise of random checking. It may be noted that the new list should be ready by November 30 and the sample check should be completed by December 15.”
