Bhubaneswar, June 28: The minor girl, who was allegedly molested by Ollywood actor Papu Pom Pom, appeared before the judicial first class magistrate (JMFC) Tuesday and got her statement recorded under section 164 of CrPC.
The girl was accompanied by her parents and the statement recorded in confidence. Meanwhile, Satya Ranjan Samal, president of friend’s foundation trust, the NGO which first lodged complaint with the Mahila police June 25, said he and his staffers are getting threatening calls since morning today.
“I’ve been getting threatening calls since morning that I had to switch off my phone. Among them, a man named Deepak, identifying himself as a journalist from Mayurbhanj, also called up and threatened me for raising the issue,” Samal said.
Lawyer Babita Kar who was associated with the NGO, also said someone called her up and threatened to burn her to death.
Child Welfare Committee (CWC) which conducted an inquiry into the NGO’s complaint, after which a case was registered against Pom Pom, said prima facie they found the minor girl was sexually molested.
Benudhar Senapati, CWC member, also said the police should not be issuing notice in this case because it would be illegal. “Arrest must be made when there are charges under POCSO Act,” Senapati said.
