post news network, Bhubaneswar, May 7: Several art loving citizens Thursday thronged the Lalit Kala Kendra in order to get a glimpse of some of the eye-catching photographs exhibited at the site in order to promote love for nature. The seven-day photography exhibition was organised by Deb Das, a passionate photographer by hobby and advocate by profession.
Through the 77 frames put up at the exhibition, Das tried to portray the scenic beauty of Orissa and its adjoining areas. According to Das, the photographs were mostly taken at such popular spots as Nandankanan, Bhitarkanika, Khandagiri, Chandaka, Ekamra Kanan park, outskirts of the city, Mangalajodi, Ranganathittu in Karnataka, Khajurahao in Madhya Pradesh etc.
The inviting photographs included still images of a few migratory birds as well as common garden birds such as, Pintail, Ruddy Shelduck, Glossy Ibis, Brown-headed Barbet, Red Jungle Fowl among others. The other pictures captured the scenic views of mountains, waterfalls and historic monuments like Khandagiri and Khajuraho.
Das on the occasion said, “I am an advocate by profession, but a photographer by passion. I had been clicking pictures since 1983-84 with the help of manual SLR cameras, shifting later on to a digital SLR in the year 2009. I am a travel enthusiast and often travel to different destinations to fulfil my passion.”
The visitors were thrilled with the photographs, which captured the ‘best’ moments of the nature in their myriad moods. Sangeeta Behera, a housewife from the city said, “I often visit photography exhibitions where I get inspiration and guidance on clicking pictures. I am interested in capturing natural beauty through the lens. Seeing others’ work often encourages me to learn from those. I liked the photos exhibited here.”
