Bhubaneswar, Sept 29: India has always been a great audience to commercial movies with cheap jokes and unrealistic fight sequences that would enchant the mass public and sweep them off their feet. But, once in a while movies like the recently released ‘Pink’ tends to raise the social issues that not many people would like to address. The movie deals with a sensitive issue about women who are judged not only for their modern clothing, but also their lifestyle and attitude.
The audience, talked to for this story, who recently watched this Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer movie raised the same questions that the entire country is trying to address.
“Generally, people that if an independent woman is wearing a modern dress or laugh a lot while talking to her male friends, and then she can be treated in anyway. The issue that has been raised through this movie will impact the society to some degree,” said Ajay Nanda, who watched the movie during the first week of its release.
Narendra Rout, a student, said, “In our country, women who work late are criticized, but people don’t understand that it is her job that demands it. I think movies like there should be more of such movies.”
Nihar Samal, who worked as a sound director for ‘Pink’, said that the idea was to create awareness among the general mass through this movie. He added: “We easily blame women if anything wrong happens with them and consider them responsible for it. We believe the change will come through the young generation.”
Smrutiranjan Biswal, who admired the character of Amitabh Bachchan in the movie, had a similar opinion on the issue. He said that the dialogues in the movie were very strong and had a strong message.
