Puri: A petition was filed with the Lokayukta in Bhubaneswar, Thursday, seeking action against those involved in misappropriation of around Rs 3.6 lakh meant for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) at Kanhei Bidyadharpur panchayat under Sadar block here.
In his petition, rights activist Batakrushna Pradhan has informed the Lokayukta that a house was sanctioned for Daitari Behera in Atharbhag village under Kanhei Bidyadharpur panchayat.
However, it was December 14, 2017 when he discovered that Rs 1.20 lakh has been sanctioned for the purpose. Similarly, Rs 1.20 lakh was also sanctioned for Mahali Bewa for a house. This apart, another villager too discovered similar sanction on his behalf following which the trio approached the BDO in this connection.
BDO Jyoty Sahu had then said that the issue has been highlighted with the district Collector and action will be taken accordingly. However, a few unscrupulous officials of the district administration allegedly worked hand-in-glove with the officials to hush up the issue.
Meanwhile, the issue was too highlighted in Dharitri, a leading Odia daily, August 13 following which the district administration landed in a fix.
The rights activist urged the Lokayukta for an impartial probe into the issue and take appropriate action against the culprits.
