Rourkela, March 31: Approximately Rs 3 crore is being spent for making several arrangements for the function in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate during his maiden visit to the state here Wednesday. While 40,000 chairs have been placed for people, additional 20,000-30,000 people can sit in the open space outside, officials said.
Besides, security has been tightened in the Steel City. About 23 ultra high definition (UHD) cameras have been installed at the venue. The organisers have also made arrangements for providing basic amenities to the visitors.
“Over 1.5 lakhs water packets have been procured. Ten generators have been deployed at the venue for power and four rooms have been constructed behind the stage, each for PM’s office, PM’s safe room, CM’s safe room and other ministers’ office respectively,” Prashant Jain, in-charge of stage construction said.
Union minister of tribal affairs Jual Oram appealed to everyone to put politics aside on the occasion of PM’s visit. “The purpose of PM’s visit here is purely for development work. After Jawaharlal Nehru’s visit to Rourkela Steel Plant, Modi will be the second PM to visit the Steel City for the inauguration of 4.5 million tonne modernisation project of RSP,” he said.
Oram informed that the PM will first visit the plate mill of RSP by road after landing at the airport. After staying there for 30 minutes, where he will discuss various development works carried out by authorities, he would return to Sector 13 to deliver his speech.
