The government has found that many people reported poor in the SECC data are ineligible to get the benefits of the scheme
Bhubaneswar: Following the allegation of inclusion of ineligible beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana (PMAY), the state government has decided to prepare a fresh list of beneficiaries under the scheme.
The government has been selecting PMAY beneficiaries on the basis of socio-economic caste census (SECC), 2011. However, the government has found that many people reported poor in the SECC data are ineligible to get the benefits of the scheme, the sources said.
“There is need to update the SECC data. We have asked the collectors to prepare a fresh list of eligible beneficiaries for the PMAY. After receiving the report, we will send it to the Centre for approval,” panchayati raj secretary DK Singh told reporters here Monday.
Once, the data has been rectified, eligible persons who have not registered in SECC, can be covered under the PMAY, he said. The state has set a target of constructing 3.40 lakh houses under PMAY during 2017-18.
Due to the faulty data under SECC 2011, the state government has revised its guidelines for Biju Pucca Ghar Yojna (BPGY) housing scheme and now the eligible persons, who have not registered under SECC, can also be included under the scheme, an official of the department said.
