Berhampur: In a major crackdown Thursday afternoon, Berhampur police busted a gang of dacoits and arrested two members who are history-sheeters, police sources informed. Police seized 540gm of gold and 100gm of silver ornaments from those arrested. They also seized a car, an expensive bike and a scooter from their possession, sources added. Three others were also arrested for buying the gold and silver ornaments from the accused.

“The group has been involved in 15 acts of burglary, so far. Police have also seized foreign currencies to a tune of 1,400 euros and Rs 30,000 from their possession,” Berhampur SP Pinaki Mishra said.
Notably, members of the gang learnt their modus operandi from videos on YouTube. Later, they applied the knowledge for committing dacoity at different places in Berhampur city.
The gang primarily targeted lonely residential houses. Members of the group used to carry out a recce of the spot in the morning before committing the dacoity late into the night.
