Bhubaneswar: In a serious intelligence lapse, a suspected man who was shot in his chest fled after getting treated at private hospital in the capital. The police reached the hospital for enquiry three hours after the suspected man left city. The incident exposed the slack police response towards the serious incidence as the person could be a Maoist ultra.
According to sources, some unknown persons came in a car and admitted the injured person to a private hospital July 23. The man was even also kept in the Intensive care unit of the private hospital after the removal of the bullet from his body by the surgeons in surgery section of the hospital. It is still not known whether the hospital authorities had informed the police before admitting him or not. The hospital authorities are tightlipped on the issue that indicates towards some murky deal.
Moreover, conflicting statements by the police authorities have turned the issue further murkier. Some told the suspected man belongs to Malkangiri while another officer has been claiming he is from Bargarh area. On the contrary, the same officer has claimed few hours after that the man was from Kandhamal.
While rubbishing the news, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rabindra Satpathy, claimed Wednesday that they had failed to find out any such patient in that private hospital, the police has probed and no such patients were admitted in the respective hospital. Meanwhile,
