Puri: Singhadwar police in Puri town Saturday detained a servitor of Jagannath temple in connection with the alleged molestation of a minor girl which took place inside Srimandir Wednesday.
According to a senior police official, the incident took place two days ago when the devotee visited the shrine along with her family to pay obeisance to the Holy Trinity. The girl was allegedly molested by a servitor near the Bamana temple located inside the temple.

On the intervening day, the family of the victim lodged an FIR with Singhadwar police mentioning about the incident. Acting on the FIR, the accused temple servitor was detained for interrogation which was underway at the time of filing of this report.
Meanwhile, Puri Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has been informed about the developments by Puri police.
