Bhubaneswar, March 17: The Quick Action Team (QAT) and the Chandrasekharpur police station officials late Monday night nabbed four criminals while they were planning a dacoity in the area.
The police officials, who received a tip off about some criminals gathering at the Chandrasekharpur Kanyashram to carry out a dacoity, conducted a raid and nabbed four of the felons. However, one criminal managed to flee.
The police identified the accused as Jagannath Sahoo (32) of Cuttack, Gurucharan Patra (27), Himansu Swain (24), and SK Manuar (25) of Jagatpur.
“During the raid, we recovered one revolver with two live cartridges, three live crude bombs, a sharp weapon, two motorcycles, four SIM cards, and other incriminating articles from them,” said a QAT official.
A manhunt has been launched to nab the fifth miscreant, the QAT official said.
“Some of the culprits were involved in some heinous crimes in other districts also, according to information gathered from the preliminary investigation. The culprits were reportedly the members of the gang of Usman Ali alias Tito but had recently parted ways,” a police source said.
Chandrasekharpur police have registered a case (67/15) and are investigating the matter.
