Bhubaneswar: Army aspirants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh who were returning to their respective places after attending the recruitment drive at 120 Infantry Battalion campus here in Bhubaneswar faced lathi-charge by RPF, GRP, and local police Tuesday after causing disturbances at Bhubaneswar Railway Station.
According to police officials, the army recruitment drive is going on at the 120 Infantry Battalion campus here from October 14 for which thousands of army job seekers from other states are in Odisha.
The candidates from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh entered into coaches of two trains without any ticket and occupied the seats forcibly leading to the incident.
The passengers of reserved coaches also faced the same ordeal following which some of the passengers of Nandankanan Express lodged a complaint with the GRP at Bhubaneswar Railway Station in this regard Sunday, the police added.
Apart from Nandankanan Express, the aspirants had also boarded Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express to return to their native places. They had not purchased the tickets and were harassing passengers of the reserved coaches.
When the train started to move, some of the candidates pulled the chain repeatedly. The police personnel had to resort to lathi-charge to disperse them.
As the candidates were in large numbers, the GRP took the help of RPF and local police.
