Bhubaneswar: A portion of the road on Puri-Bypass overbridge caved in near Hitech square in Palasuni Sunday afternoon. The incident created panic among passers-by.
The DCP traffic, Sagarika Nath along with other police officials and NHAI members rushed to the spot in order to review the situation. Meanwhile, the enraged locals staged a road blockade at the spot demanding stringent action against the construction firm for the collapse of the road within just a year of the inauguration of the bridge. The bridge was inaugurated in 2018.
A team of Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) personnel were also deployed and the area was barricaded. Traffic was also diverted after the incident.
