Bhubaneswar, Jan 12: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik handed over appointment letters to nearly 100 recently recruited junior lecturers and presented 100 laptops to meritorious Plus II students at Soochna Bhawan Tuesday.
Attending a national seminar on improvement of quality in higher education, Patnaik said, “The objective of education is to empower youths into capable of doing things for themselves and the society and not repeat what others have done before.”
The Chief Minister stressed the need for a robust youth policy in the state launched in 2013. “A key feature of our youth policy is promoting access to quality education, skill development, training and technology. The objective is to place our youth at the centre-stage,” asserted Patnaik.
Educationists from across the country have attended the day-long seminar and discussed the prospects of higher education in the state as well as the region.
Utkal University vice-chancellor Asok Das who was attending the seminar highlighted the scope of higher education sector in the state.
The seminar was attended by higher education minister Pradeep Panigrahy, Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Patsani, Bhubaneswar MLAs Bijoy Mohanty and Priyadarshi Mishra among others officials of the higher education department.
