Khaira: In a successful joint operation conducted by Basta and Singla police against power cable thieves of Baliapal, Balasore sadar and Basta areas in Balasore district, the cops busted a power cable racket and have arrested four persons in connection with it Saturday.
The arrested men allegedly used to steal power cables from different places and store it at a warehouse near Langaleswar area in Balasore district.
The accused have been identified as Nigamananda Behera of Mandabhati village, Bapun Bindhani of Khunta village, Sunil Hembram of Godikhadia village and Sheikh Usman of Langaleswar village under Rasgovindpur police limit in Mayurbhanj district.
According to police officials, different cases of theft of 11KV power cables from electric pole had been registered in several police stations including Basta, Singla and Balasore sadar. After conducting raids in different areaa, they arrested the four and seized the power cables worth lakh of rupees along with a Scorpio SUV.
