Bhubaneswar: Former Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena was elected president of the prestigious Bhubaneswar Club Sunday evening.

According to reports, Jena contested against two-time president Asit Tripathy, with both having previously served as chief secretaries of the state government.

Jena won by 18 votes, Pragati Mohanty was elected vice president with a 60-vote lead, Lalit Das secured the secretary post by 76 votes, and joint secretary Sambit Mohanty won by 68 votes.

The club’s presidential election was held over two days, with E-voting on Saturday and offline voting on Sunday for those unable to vote digitally.

A total of 2,321 electors participated, including 1,922 individual and 399 corporate members.

“I am grateful to Asit Tripathy for this wonderful contest and to my team for their hard work throughout this journey.

We will ensure transparency and accountability in financial matters and implement transformative measures. Our first resolution will limit both the president and secretary to a maximum of two terms,” said Jena.
