Korukonda: A pregnant woman of Nagalaguda village of Kudumulugumma panchayat in Malkangiri district had to be carried to the hospital Monday as ambulance could not reach the village due to bad road conditions.
Chandrama Madi, wife of Hati Madi, went into labour pain Monday morning. Her family members called up an ambulance. But the ambulance failed to reach Nagalaguda village due to terrible condition of the roads.
With no other option left, family members carried her on a bike for a portion of the stretch, made her walk for a portion of the rest and then only managed to get an auto to reach hospital.
The villagers allege that the road was repaired by spending a lot of money from the state exchequer. The road has been washed away in rain because of low quality work, the villagers alleged.
