Pregnant woman, three injured in Nabarangpur road accident

Jharigaon:  A pregnant woman suffered injuries after the 108 ambulance in which she was being taken to a hospital met with an accident at Gaudguda village of Kutrichhapar panchayat under Jharigaon block in Nabarangpur district Saturday night.

The driver, ASHA and a pharmacist were also injured.

According to reports, Laxmi Jani (35), wife of Mana Jani, a resident of Mundapadar village of Badatemara panchayat under Jharigaon block complained of labour pain Saturday 11 pm.

Since there was no ambulance at Jharigaon government hospital that time, a 108 ambulance from Umarkote reached the place.

With the help of ASHA and a pharmacist, Laxmi was being taken to the Jharigaon government hospital. But it met an accident near a culvert at Gaudguda village. Laxmi, ASHA Manika Jani, driver Purnachandra Patnaik  and pharmacist Jayaram Majhi were rushed to Jharigaon community health centre and all of them have been shifted later to Umorkote CHC.

Later, Laxmi and Manika have been shifted to Nabarangpur district hospital as their condition got deteriorated.

Facing further complications after the death of the baby in the womb, Laxmi has been transferred to Sahid Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital.
