Bhubaneswar, Jan 25: As many as 13 police personnel from the state will be awarded the President’s Police Award on Republic Day this year. While two personnel will be awarded for distinguished service, the other 11 will be conferred the police medal for meritorious service.
The President’s Police Medal for distinguished service will be given to Khageswar Gauda, superintendent of police (Police Motor Transport), Cuttack and Taraka Prasad Sarangi, deputy superintendent of police, Vigilance directorate, Cuttack.
The President’s Police Medal for distinguished service is given to personnel who have served for at least 21 years and been recipients of police medals earlier.
Police medal for meritorious service from the state will conferred on Mahendra Pratap, IG of police railways, Cuttack, Dayal Gangwar, DIG of police SAP, Cuttack, Baikuntha Nath Das, superintendent of police signals, Cuttack, Santanu Kumar Dash, sub-divisional police officer Nuapada, Saroj Kumar, assistant commandant, security wing Bhubaneswar, Saroja Kanta Barik, sub-inspector of police, police motor transport Cuttack, Basanta Kumar Gochhayat, havildar Mayurbhanj, Kamalakanta Mohapatra, havildar, security wing Bhubaneswar, Jaga Bandhu Sahu, driver havildar Balasore, Basanta Kumar Barik, constable, Balasore, Upendra Kumar Balabantaray, sepoy, security wing Bhubaneswar.
The Police Medal for Meritorious Service is awarded to personnel with a meritorious record and serving at least 15 years in the central police or security organisation.
“I feel proud to be a part of our police institution. There are several of us who are fighting hard against Naxals to keep the state safe and maintain order,” additional commissioner of police, PS Ranpise, said.
