Dhenkanal: There seems to be no end to sexual exploitation of minor girls studying in residential Sevashram schools in this district.
A Class IV girl of Dhaniapali Sevashram School was allegedly molested by her teacher last week but the matter came to the fore Wednesday.
Though the school authorities made an attempt to cover up the incident, it came to light after the district welfare department launched a probe into the allegations after receiving a complaint from the victim.
When contacted, district welfare officer Manas Ranjan Mishra confirmed the development but refused to speak on the issue till the completion of the probe. Gondia BDO Rabindra Kumar Sabat who conducted the investigation also refused to speak on the issue stating it to be a confidential matter.
Incidentally, about a month back two teachers including the headmaster of Sarakhia Sevashram School in this district were arrested for helping a minor girl to deliver her child at a nursing home in Panikoili and latter giving away the newborn to a childless couple.
The girl studying in the school and residing in its hostel was impregnated by a youth at her village when she returned home during vacation. The headmaster and the concerned teacher without informing her parents tried to suppress the incident and took the girl to a private clinic for delivery, it was learnt.
