Baripada: The Baripada district administration has recently shown promptness in addressing the problems of families displaced by Deo Irrigation Project at Karanjia in Mayurbhanj district. Efforts have already started to rehabilitate the displaced families.
Following the direction of District Collector Vineet Bhardwaj, sub-collector Rajanikant Biswal visited Batapolasha and Patulidihi villages Friday to take assess the progress of setting up of temporary colonies for the displaced families. He is learnt to have directed the officials to complete the work by end of August.
Meanwhile, preparations have already started to relocate the rest of affected families after water was released in canals lying to the right and left of the irrigation project.
Biswal also asked the land acquisition officer to distribute compensation among the displaced families in advance. He also directed the BDO to see to it that the displaced families are brought under the Biju Pucca Ghar programme. He also directed the tehsildar to ensure that the documents of the new land be provided to the families at the earliest. He assured the displaced families that all possible government help will be extended to them.
The sub-Collector during his visit was accompanied by Karanjia SDPO Sudarshan Gangoi, executive engineer of Deo Irrigation Project Anil Panigrahi and chief construction engineer Badal Kumar Sahu.
