Bhubaneswar, June 4: In a bid to crack down on traffic rule violators, the Commissionerate Police (CP) has sent a proposal to the state government to approve the e-Challan system to impose penalty on offenders.
“The CP has sent a proposal to the state government for approval of the E-Challan procedure,” the police sources said.
“Pictures of the traffic rule violators will be captured on the camera and a letter seeking penalty for traffic norms violation will be sent to the concerned person accordingly. The letter will have mention about the details of the violation of norms. An e-Challan will then be sent to the violator. In case of non-payment of penalty, the traffic police would move the court against the concerned person,” said a senior CP official.
“We will also organise programmes to spread awareness about road safety and traffic rules,” he added.
