Puri-Jagannath: another cop suspended, this time drunk on duty

Puri: A few hours after suspension of a constable of 9th India Reserve Battalion (IRBN) on charges of molestation of a minor, another IRBN cop, deployed at the Jagannath temple was suspended Saturday owing to intoxication.

Subarna Kisan, the police personnel was caught drunk on duty.

Informing about strict action taken against the drunkard cop, Puri superintendent of police (SP) Sarthak Sarangi said Subrana was under the influence and found loitering near Jay Vijay gate of the temple. In this connection, a case was registered with Singhadwar police station. “Police department is synonymous with discipline and responsibility. Any one from the lower rung to higher ups will not be condoned if ever, found beyond the principle of the department,” Sarangi Said.

Notably, Sukesh Meher, suspended earlier, misbehaved with a 14-year old who along with her family members was paying obeisance to the deities near bahara katha (outer barricade) Saturday morning. It was SP Sarthak Sarangi who initiated the probe and put the cop under suspension.
