Bhubaneswar: All India Congress Committee (AICC) vice-president Rahul Gandhi will visit the state in June to hold a padayatra as part of the nationwide ‘Kisan Padayatra’ launched by the party. This would be Rahul’s first visit to the state after the general elections last year. “Rahul will visit the state next month to hold the Kisan Padayatra. The details of the schedule are yet to be finalised,” Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan said after returning from New Delhi Saturday. Harichandan said he had met Rahul and AICC president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and apprised them of the political situation in the state. “Now, 10 seats of district presidents and many seats of block presidents are lying vacant. It would be impossible for us to carry out political activities without filling up these positions,” he said. PNN
