Bhubaneswar: Schools in the state reopened Monday after an extended two-month summer vacation. The reopening of school was twice postponed considering the heat wave condition across Odisha.
However, Monday turned out to be a rainy day as schools welcomed back students.
The roads in the city witnessed the heavy rush of school buses, vans and autos carrying students to their respective institutions.
In some places, children were seen donning raincoats and carrying umbrellas.
Schools were scheduled to reopen June 18, but due to the heat condition, it was extended to June 21. However, as the temperature soared, the date has been extended once again to June 25.
Meanwhile, the School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra Monday asked all the school authorities to follow safety guidelines.
