Bhuban: In an untoward incident following incessant rain that lashed Dhenkanal district for the past few days, four workers got completely washed away and seven others were rescued, who were working at a bridge construction site on Pandara Nala Saturday afternoon.
According to reports, the workers at a bridge construction site on Pandara Nala got stranded in rainwater and panicked. Rainwater gradually ingressed a makeshift camp located at the construction site wherein the workers had resorted.

After getting scared, the workers shouted for help. Later, as four of them got completely washed away, seven others climbed a nearby tree and escaped.
On being informed, Bhuban fire brigade team reached the bridge and rescued the seven workers.
Rains battered Bhuban area in the district and the entire block got submerged in rainwater following a flood-like situation as the Ramial, the Pandara and the Brahmani rivers were in spate.
Reacting to this, Bhuban block development officer Ashirbad Parida said, “We are thoroughly moving in all the areas and taking stock of the flood-like situation. Necessary steps will be taken at our level, accordingly.”
Notably, Bhuban block has got disconnected from Kamakhyanagar since the afternoon. The Ramial river inflated five feet above the national highway (NH-53) at Dayanabila village under this block.
Similarly, vehicular movement was interrupted as a Dhenkanal Works Department road, connecting Dayanabila panchayat with Bhuban block passing through Gadagahamapur, was breached.
