Rajani, Anupama take top honous

Bhubaneswar: Rajani Bisi and Anupama Swain of Utkal Karate school (UKS) were adjudged Best Climbers in the men’s and the women’s categories respectively in the IInd State Sports Climbing Championships, which concluded at the Kalinga Stadium sports climbing complex late Sunday evening.

In the men’s open lead category Bishnu Dalai of UKS emerged champion while Rajani finished runner-up. Somnath Mundari of Sundargarh secured the third position.

Anupama emerged champion in the women’s segment, Monika Bek of Sambalpur was second while Gayatri Murmu of UKS finished third.

State sports and youth affairs department secretary Vishal Dev was present as chief guest and distributed prizes.

 

Ganesh’s expertise

Ace mountaineer of Odisha Ganesh Jena conducted several adventure camps at Manali, Himachal Pradesh, June 5-23, organised by National Adventure Club and Government of Haryana.

Ganesh also gave tips on mountaineering and was also a part of a number of motivational sessions where he spoke extensively on the art of climbing to the climbers. He conducted classes at Bhanupul, Haripur, Somban and Solamile. Around 200 aspiring mountaineers took part in each of the camps and were trained in nature study, rock climbing, rafting, monkey crawling, and trekking.
