Bhubaneswar, May 29: Man of the match Surag Das put on a brilliant all-round show to help Rameswar Sporting register an emphatic eight wickets victory over Oscar Sporting in a match of the Town Club Junior Cricket League here Friday.
Oscar rode on a fluent half century by Vikram Roy (65, 51bm 7×4, 4×6) to score 140 for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 30 overs. Subham Samantray (3/40) and Surag (2/18) bowled well for Rameswar.
In reply, Rameswar overhauled the total in 18.3 overs with Surag (74 n o, 62b, 10×4, 1×6)
emerging as the highest scorer.
Football tourney
Rock Star FC and Rohit Academy won their respective matches of the Ist seven-a-side football tournament which was inaugurated at the PM Academy Ground in Cuttack, Friday.
In the first match, Rock Star FC pipped Mangala Club 1-0. MD Dannish scored the all important goal of the match in the 25th minute. In the second match, Rohit Academy edged past Swaraj United 2-1. Arjun Nayak (25th, 30th) scored for Rohit Academy. Ashok Das got one back for Swaraj United in the 35th minute.
SAI Centre to reopen
After a gap of seven years, the SAI training centre will reopen in Dhenkanal. Players will be selected for the centre soon and only indoor training facilities will be provided. “We have been informed about the decision by the regional centre of SAI, Kolkata,” stated the in-charge at Dhenkanal, Bijay Kunar Gan. “We will
provide facilities for wrestlers, weightlifters and kabaddi players in the indoor hall,” he
informed.
