Rani Mukerji inaugurates IFFM in Australia

Melbourne: Ahead of the Independence Day, actress Rani Mukerji Saturday inaugurated the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) by hoisting the Indian tricolour at the Federation Square in Melbourne, Australia.

The actor attended the event in a white-pink floral saree and pearl jewellery along with a vintage white shawl.

On the occasion of inaugural event, she was flanked by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and IFFM director Mitu Lange while many Indian and Australian fans in the crowd cheered on.

She termed the opportunity to inaugurate the event with unfurling tricolour in Australia as rarest of the rare.

She also thanked the Victorian government for bestowing her with the honour to inaugurate the festival.

While Rani expressed her heartfelt joy for representing India and the entire film fraternity in such a prestigious event, she was also thankful to Mitu Bhowmich Lange, the director of the festival, for inviting her to the IFFM.

The 40-year-old actress, last seen in ‘Hitchki’, attended the event with her daughter Adira Chopra and other Bollywood personalities like Rajkumar Hirani, Richa Chadha, Ali Fazal, Malaika Arora, Mrunal Thakur and Vicky Kaushal.

The 13-day long festival will witness screening of over 60 films from all across India and the subcontinent in over 22 languages.
