Puri: The inventory report of the Ratna Bhandar at the Jagannath temple in Puri will remain confidential and will not be released in the public domain, Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said.
The minister said the inventory of the temple treasury is being carried out based on the 1978 list, and a fresh list will be prepared after the ongoing exercise is completed.
Speaking to reporters, Harichandan said the accounting and inventory process is expected to be completed by the end of the ‘Margashira’ month. Work on 3D mapping, photography and videography of rare and valuable ornaments is also underway.
He said the inventory process would continue after Durga Puja and is expected to be completed before ‘Margashira’. However, the final list of precious ornaments will not be made available to the public.
On arrangements for devotees, the minister said a ramp and queue-based darshan system would be introduced in the Natamandap within the next three to four months to make darshan smoother.
IIT Bhubaneswar has been tasked with designing the ramp system, and its proposal has been examined by the government. The plan will be implemented after further review by the Chhatisha Niyoga and members of the Temple Managing Committee.
Harichandan also said special darshan arrangements would be made through the Uttaradwar, or north gate, for residents of Puri.
