Cuttack: Ravenshaw University students picketed the VC’s office here Tuesday , in a protest against what they called “the additional financial burden” being imposed on them and the “exorbitant” fee hike. Student leaders condemned the ‘arbitrary’ decisions
Protesting students were seen holding placards and shouting slogans against the authorities of the premier institute. The protest was held under the aegis of the Ravenshaw Chhatra Kriyanusthan Committee.
Among the students’ demands were cancellation of the fee hike decision, re-introduction of the instant examination system for final-year students, repeal of the order to vacate hostels for renovation work and introduction of compulsory meals for hostel boarders. The students threatened to intensify their protest if their demands are not met.
Commissionerate Police arrived on the spot and tried to pacify the students. Efforts were on by the police and staff of the university to amicably settle the students’ issues.
