Sambalpur/Burla: Six days after a botched-up transfusion of Hepatitis-C and HIV-infected blood into two patients of the surgery ward, the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) (north) visited the hospital Tuesday to take stock of the situation.
RDC NBS Rajput called on authorities of VSS Institute Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR) and held a closed-door meeting with them. However, resentment brewed in several quarters as public and media were kept in dark about the discussions that were held for 15 minutes.
When contacted, hospital director Dr Sunamali Bag, who also attended the meeting, avoided the question pleading his ignorance.
Hospital superintendent Dr Brajamohan Mishra, said the RDC, in the meeting, was briefed about the details of the whole issue and that of the investigation. The RDC also asked the doctors and other employees of the hospital to work with dedication.
A four-member team of doctors that was formed to probe the matter had submitted a two-page report to the hospital superintendent and the state health department. A day after the submission of the report, the closed-door meeting by the RDC and keeping the media at bay have raised several eyebrows.
