Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance Sunday arrested a former Senior Revenue Assistant (SRA) of the Sub-Collector’s Office in Chhatrapur for allegedly misappropriating Rs 8.63 lakh collected towards the Red Cross Fund by diverting the money instead of depositing it in the designated bank account.
The accused, Sadasiba Pradhan, who was in charge of the Nizarat Section of the office between December 2023 and August 2025, allegedly collected Rs 8,63,200 by issuing official receipt books but did not deposit the amount in the Red Cross Fund account at the State Bank of India (SBI), Chhatrapur branch. Instead, he allegedly misappropriated the entire amount for personal gain, Vigilance said.
The fraud came to light during an inquiry into alleged financial irregularities involving the non-deposit of government funds collected in the Nizarat Section.
Pradhan, who is currently posted at the Tahasil Office in Surada, Ganjam district, has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
He is being forwarded to the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Brahmapur.
