RMNH hosts textile expo

Bhubaneswar:The Regional Museum of Natural History (RMNH) here Friday organised a one-day expo on textiles in India, with focus on eastern sector. Ten panels of fabric developed by the Union Textile Department were put on display at the exhibition. Addressing the inaugural event, weavers’ service centre deputy director SK Patra said textiles have been added to the museum to attract stu
dents and inform them about natural fabrics, contrasted with synthetic products. “Every home in pre-independence India owned a charkha which used to draw cotton and natural threads. Nowadays, we get to see spinning wheels only in museums. Hence, it is the initiative of the Textile ministry to generate awareness among the youngsters,” he added.
