Cuttack Sadar: A 22-year-old youth died after being knocked down by a speeding bus near Kandarpur Square on Cuttack-Paradip Road here Thursday.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred in the afternoon when the victim Kalia Sethy, a resident of Kalantira village under Biridi police limits in Jagatsinghpur, was heading for Cuttack on his motorcycle (OD 21 D 1543).
“Suddenly, a bus hit Kalia’s motorbike from the rear following which the motorcyclist was thrown several metres away leading to his death on the spot,” said an eye witnesses.
On being informed, Kandarpur police reached the spot and sent the body for autopsy to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Sources, meanwhile, claimed that police were examining the footage of a CCTV installed near Kandarpur police station so as to get leads about the errant vehicle and its driver.
