Bhubaneswar: The civic body has been planning to introduce robotics to woo citizens at ‘Raahgiri’ events here next Sunday.
A release issued by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) here has said robots in special enclosures christened ‘Fun with Robo’ on the Janpath would greet citizens from next Sunday.
People in the city will get a never-before chance to play with various robots such as assembled parts of real robots comprising motor, switch, mechanical body and sensors, said the BMC release.
In every batch of the ‘Fun with Robo’ session, 20 participants will be allowed to play with the robots, assemble them, make them act on the commands given through the remotes or even more innovatively through their own smartphones after downloading the software needed and converting their smartphones to remotes.
BDA additional commissioner (Enforcement) Bhabani Chayani said, “The activity will provide a smart occasion for the student community as robotics has become a popular subject in our daily life and in almost all scientific applications, research, operations, production and development activities,”
A city-based start-up on robotics may also organise the event at Raahgiri, in which children and students can have a rare opportunity to encounter command sensitive robots to entertain the crowds and also perform some interesting tasks to engage the crowd.
