Kendrapara, Feb 19: Forest personnel came across a wild boar lying dead with multiple injury marks while clearing bushes near Chakroda Lock area Thursday.
They confirmed that the dead boar is the same one that had gone on an attacking spree by unleashing a reign of terror in Hatabanapur, Chakroda and Saharpur localities last week.
The wild boar had been injured Wednesday as locals went on
attacking the animal after it bit Khirod Mohanty, a local youth.
The boar later fled into the bushes Wednesday. It is suspected that due to the attack by locals, the wild boar succumbed to injuries, Biranchi Bag, IIC of Kendrapara Sadar police
station, said.
Sudarshan Behera, DFO of Cuttack, said that the dead wild boar would be sent for post-mortem to the local
veterinary hospital.
Earlier, the district administration Thursday clamped section 144 of CrPC within 500 metres radius of Chakroda panchayat office to prevent the entry of locals to the area where the rogue wild boar was suspected of hiding in bushes.
Dharitri Mishra, executive magistrate on duty, said prohibitory orders would be vacated Thursday evening.
Wednesday, four forest officials, including ranger of Kendrapara forest range, Ashok Kumar Jena, were injured after an irate mob attacked them, angry over the fact that a local was critically hurt by the wild boar despite the presence of forest
personnel.
Jena lodged an FIR with Kendrapara Sadar police station alleging that while they were on duty, locals
assaulted forest officials and forcibly took away nets and fire crackers and damaged their vehicles.
Acting on the FIR, police
registered a case. No arrest has been made and Sadar police have started a probe, police sources said.
