BHUBANESWAR: To promote voting awareness among public, students of BMPS Takshila School took out a roller skate rally from CRPF Square till Ekamra Park in IRC Village here Saturday.
The effort was aimed at urging the residents of the city to exercise their constitutional right and vote in the ongoing parliament and assembly elections.
Armed with placards and leaflets, the students from Std I to XII skated from CRPF Square to Mayfair Lagoon.
Interacting with Orissa Post, a student Anushul Mishra said, “I learned the importance of voting from my parents. This apart, all the students of our school have pledged to create more awareness among the denizens to vote so that they can elect the right candidate for the parliament and assembly seats.”
They were accompanied by their teachers, coaches, school officials and volunteers during the rally. It was a great sight for citizens on the road to see little children asking them not to forget to vote and bringing the right candidate to power for good governance.
They distributed leaflets at Ekamra Kanan Park and performed a roller skating show. Many stopped on roads to watch their skating skills while many expressed their happiness when students approached them for voting.
Binod Singh, a resident of Jaydev Vihar said, “It’s heartening to witness the sense of civic responsibilities among these children. Without further ado, it’s time to vote and elect the right candidate.”
