Cuttack, Jan 20: Bowlers dominated the proceedings as Rourkela took a crucial first innings lead of 44 runs against Koraput on day one of the two-day Sumit Bose Memorial OCA U-16 Inter-District Super League cricket tournament at the SCB Medical Ground here, Thursday. In other matches played in the day bowlers dominated the show.

Poor show
Ansu Kumar Bhuyan of Orissa lost both his second round matches in the men’s singles and doubles events of the AITA National Rankings Tournament at Secunderabad, Wednesday.
In singles, Ansu lost to Siddharth Viswakarma of Uttar Pradesh 4-6, 6-7 (1-7). In doubles, the pair of Ansu and Suroj Prabodh of Karnataka was defeated by Tamil Nadu duo of Shaikh Abdullah and Mohit Mayur 3-6, 1-6 (12-14).
Goals galore
Sharadakumari scored seven goals including a double hat-trick to help Jharkhand thrash Uttarakhand 12-0 in a match of the Sub-Junior Girls’ national football championships at the Barabati Stadium here Wednesday. Sunita Munda and Priti Rani struck a brace each, while Poonam Minz scored once.
In another match Manipur spanked Chhattisgarh 4-0. Y Thailand scored twice, while Th Kritina and O Lamnganbi struck once each. Goa blanked Chandigarh 2-o with Kiranm and Anju finding the back of the net once each.
Ashutosh advances
Ashutosh Padhy of Orissa entered the semifinals in the junior snooker category of the National Billards and Snooker Championships at Indore, Wednesday. He won two matches out of three en route to the semis. Earlier he had been eliminated from the billiards event.
Squad announced
A 20-member state squad was announced by Football Association of Orissa (FAO) Wednesday for the BC Roy Trophy football tournament at Hoshiapur, starting January 25.
