Bhubaneswar: In the upcoming movie Chhichhore starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor, Odisha’s Amrit Kashyap is playing a minor but important role. Kashyap is from Rourkela and an alumnus of Whistling Woods International, the film institute founded by Subhash Ghai.
He acts as a student in the movie. Talking about his role in the movie, Kashyap said that he was playing the role of a student from a rival hostel in the same college. In the movie, he plays a cricket match against Sushant’s team.
On his experience of working with Director Nitesh Tiwari, Kashyap said “God has been kind, I believe success is when Preparation meets opportunity and I was lucky to be a part of this big film and working with a legendary director. He is one of the finest directors. “He is calm, cool and focused,” he added
This is Kashyap’s first Hindi film. He lost 12 kg weight for the role. “I was playing a 19-year-old guy. I cut down to 65 kg. I think any role is big for you when you’re starting out. There are no small roles just small actors. As an actor you got to justify the scene and serve the writer. That’s your job,” he said.
Recently, Amrit Kashyap was runners-up in the reality show ‘EXPEDITION-Season 1’. He took home a Yamaha Fz25 bike from the show. At the show, Amrit earned the title ‘overachiever’.
He is a postgraduate with an MBA and has worked as celebrity manager for Vidhu Vinod Chopra, whose company produced films like ‘PK’, ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Munna Bhai’. He has also worked on music videos — the latest one with Zee Music Company titled ‘Zindagi Mujhe Pukare’ as lead actor. He quit his job with Vinod Chopra Films to work as a professional actor.
Kashyap said that he wants to be the first actor from Odisha who made it big in Bollywood. And currently he have auditioned for some more films and in the process of working on a web series.
Chhichhore’ gets big shout-out from students
The trailer of Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapppor starrer ‘Chhichhore’, which is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, was appreciated by youngsters and college students here.
The trailer reveals that ‘Chhichhore’ is the story of college friends Sushant Singh Rajput (Anni), Shraddha Kapoor (Maya), Varun Sharma (Sexa), Tahir Raj Bhasin (Derek), Naveen Polishetty (Acid), Tushar Pandey (Mummy) and Saharsh Kumar Shukla (Bevda) and how decades after college, they have an unexpected reunion after an unfortunate incident.
Many city fans expressed their excitement about the movie which depicted the college life of students and friendship. Alok Kumar Lal, a former student of Ravesnhaw University, said that upon watching the trailer, he remembered his life at the PG Hostel where he used to live with friends
. “The director has done a good job in the movie in showing the true life of college students in a hostel. As a student, we spent most of our time at the hostel,” he said. Prabhanjan Mishra, another student, said he liked the friendship between Varun Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput and that the movie will be a hit.
Director Nitesh Tiwari, best known for the Aamir Khan-starrer blockbuster Dangal, released the trailer on Friendship Day. He got a massive shout out from stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan.
